Back in the late 1990s, I founded my own software development and systems integration firm. I had a background in mathematics, computer science, and organisational development, and I wanted to bring those together to support deep, long-lasting, and sustainable change within organisations.
The software industry at the time was plagued by rigid, bureaucratic, siloed, and inflexible structures. I was excited when I discovered that agile treated organisational systems more like living, breathing organisms that grow, adapt, and thrive when all the moving parts work harmoniously together.
My next adventure was developing an international business agility consulting practice where I got to work with some of the largest finance, telecommunications and resource companies in Europe, Asia-Pacific and the Middle East. I led large-scale transformation projects for Ogilvy and Mather, LexisNexis, Oxford University Press, Marketforce, M&C Saatchi Group, Blue Star, PMP Limited, and News Corp.
When I was approached by SoftEd, I jumped at the chance to be a part of their innovative and people-focused team. I helped with ICAgile training and curriculum development, including the creation of the Agile in HR course.
What I love most about training, coaching, and consulting is supporting people as they navigate complexity and change. The key is to always approach problems with curiosity and a desire to make things better.
That sentiment of agility is how I like to live my life. I'm always looking to discover new things and connect with people who love to learn as much as I do. I've been an advisor for several tech startups and a mentor for master's students at the University of Technology Sydney. I also regularly speak at conferences and events, including NexGen Government, Place Leaders Asia Pacific, and the Sydney School of Entrepreneurship.
When I'm not working, I enjoy hiking and offshore sailing. I recently dusted off my old rock-climbing gear as well. I divide my time between Dubai and London, so I like to travel around, explore new places, and get around the local food and beer.
